Dual Image Magic on the high seas!

We've been wanting for some time now to do a newsletter featuring a job we completed a few months back for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. It's an interesting job because it was repeated with minor changes for two of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's latest luxury liners. First Radiance of the Seas, which joined their fleet last March and now it's new sister ship, Brilliance of the Seas, which make its inaugural cruise next month. We created this 12' x 30' custom Dual Image UV scenic piece on muslin. The painting is in the observation deck area and then transforms to become part of a club "the Viking Crown" at night. The idea was to let people see the fantasy-based art during the day and have them experience it under UV light at night when the entire room transforms with the art being the showcase of that nighttime club look. As you can see from the photos of the art, you really can completely transform an environment using this technique. As opposed to a Day to Night style which has many looks depending on the other lighting used to create a sunrise, sunset or some other look, the Dual Image style is a way to completely transform a wall, ceiling or entire attraction on a as needed basis. The artwork was designed and painted by UV/FX Creative Director Kent Mathieu and painted at our shop in Vernon California 5 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.

*We have been asked by several readers to do an in-depth newsletter explaining our UV scenic styles (Day to Night, Dual Image, Complete Invisible, Single Image and UV 3-D) and their proper applications. Watch for it next month.
